For a friend...

Ever heard a song, whether on the radio or one of those surprises that come along on your ipod, and the song makes you think of a person? Even if you haven't met in person. That happened to me yesterday. The song "She's a Rainbow" came on and I could see the connection in my mind. Even though I don't think she particularly cares for the Stones, their song reminds me of her; a special person, a friend. She loves colors - rainbows - prisms. The best video I could find was one dedicated to Marianne Faithfull, one of the most influential ladies in Mick Jagger's life.

A little history behind the song. * you know I have to do this. ;)* "She's a Rainbow" is a song by the English rock 'n roll band The Rolling Stones and was featured on their 1967 album "Their Satanic Majesties Request."

Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, it was recorded on May 18, 1967. It is most famous for its vibrant piano by Nicky Hopkins, Brian Jones' use of the mellotron, and its rich lyricism by Jagger.
John Paul Jones, later of Led Zeppelin fame, arranged the strings of this song during his session days. Despite rumors, none of The Beatles performed on this track. Backing vocals were by Richards, Jagger, Jones and Bill Wyman. The lyrics in the chorus were borrowed from the song "She Comes in Colors" by Love. [1] [1] From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I thought it was perfect for you, so here you are, Mish.

She comes in colors ev'rywhere,
she combs her hair

She's like a rainbow,

coming, colors in the air

Oh, everywhere, she comes in colors

She comes in colors ev'rywhere,

she combs her hair

She's like a rainbow,

coming, colors in the air

Oh, everywhere, she comes in colors

Have you seen her dressed in blue ?

See the sky in front of you

And her face is like a sail,

speck of white so fair and pale

Have you seen a lady fairer ?

Have you seen her all in gold ?
Like a queen in days of old

She shoots her colors all around
like
a sunset going down
Have you seen a lady fairer ?

She comes in colors ev'rywhere,

she combs her hair

She's like a rainbow,

coming, colors in the air

Oh, everywhere,
she comes in colors

She's like a rainbow,

coming, colors in the air

Oh, everywhere,
she comes in colors
