Me

I came across this saying... I'm always coming across shit like this. Stuff written by others that SO is "me", that I swear they were in my head. Anyway, I just thought I'd post it.

“If you're alone, I'll be your shadow.
If you want to cry, I'll be your shoulder.
If you want a hug, I'll be your pillow.
If you need to be happy, I'll be your smile.
But anytime you need a friend,
I'll just be me”

Everybody love alive.

If you don't agree with the message of the song, you still will really dig the music and the groovy threads. Peace y'all.

Just press play...

Everybody come alive,

Everybody love alive,

Everybody hear my message.

GBE 81 - Fears

Heh... This caught me with my mask off so this is getting written without me going back and editing the crap out of it. Going back and making sure all my words "sound" right.

I have two fears; not fears such as fear of the dark, or heights, or flying, or going out, etc, etc. I don't even have a fear of making friends. My first fear is losing friends. People have a tendency to fade away. I think it is because of my nature. I am quiet. I don't say a lot, only when something needs to be said.

This is true of both of my off and online personalities (which are the fucking same). I have gotten better, but I fear that I don't hold people's interest after a while. So in time I hear less and less from them. See, my friends here (my close ones) are friends. Like my offline ones. No differentiation. I guess I shouldn't worry, but I do.

I have lyrics in my status from the group Suicidal Tendencies.

"I talk through my eyes, the words pourin' out. Nobody hears.
You ask me what's wrong, but what can I say? Nobody hears."

I heard the song and looked the lyrics up. It fits me.

Just because I'm quiet doesn't mean I have nothing to say. Just because I read a blog and don't get it because people are talking of histories I have no clue of but others do, doesn't mean I'm not blown away by the words. Do you know what it feels like when you feel like you're being ignored... dismissed?

My second fear: Growing old alone. And that is my own problem, so I won't say anything more on it.

I read where "it's important that we tell our stories". Little bits of mine are coming out.

Well, lunch break is over. Let me pull my mask down again and be happy. :D Put my fears to the side.

Now for your listening pleasure: Iron Maiden's Fear of the Dark. This is a rocking song. UP THE IRONS!

For a friend...

Ever heard a song, whether on the radio or one of those surprises that come along on your ipod, and the song makes you think of a person? Even if you haven't met in person. That happened to me yesterday. The song "She's a Rainbow" came on and I could see the connection in my mind. Even though I don't think she particularly cares for the Stones, their song reminds me of her; a special person, a friend. She loves colors - rainbows - prisms. The best video I could find was one dedicated to Marianne Faithfull, one of the most influential ladies in Mick Jagger's life.

------------------------------------------

A little history behind the song. * you know I have to do this. ;)* "She's a Rainbow" is a song by the English rock 'n roll band The Rolling Stones and was featured on their 1967 album "Their Satanic Majesties Request."

Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, it was recorded on May 18, 1967. It is most famous for its vibrant piano by Nicky Hopkins, Brian Jones' use of the mellotron, and its rich lyricism by Jagger.
John Paul Jones, later of Led Zeppelin fame, arranged the strings of this song during his session days. Despite rumors, none of The Beatles performed on this track. Backing vocals were by Richards, Jagger, Jones and Bill Wyman. The lyrics in the chorus were borrowed from the song "She Comes in Colors" by Love. [1] [1] From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I thought it was perfect for you, so here you are, Mish.

She comes in colors ev'rywhere,
she combs her hair

She's like a rainbow,

coming, colors in the air

Oh, everywhere, she comes in colors

She comes in colors ev'rywhere,

she combs her hair

She's like a rainbow,

coming, colors in the air

Oh, everywhere, she comes in colors

Have you seen her dressed in blue ?

See the sky in front of you

And her face is like a sail,

speck of white so fair and pale

Have you seen a lady fairer ?

Have you seen her all in gold ?
Like a queen in days of old

She shoots her colors all around
like
a sunset going down
Have you seen a lady fairer ?

She comes in colors ev'rywhere,

she combs her hair

She's like a rainbow,

coming, colors in the air

Oh, everywhere,
she comes in colors

She's like a rainbow,

coming, colors in the air

Oh, everywhere,
she comes in colors

Too Busy for a Friend???

Here's another email that was forwarded to me. I received it at a time when much was going through my thoughts. A dear friend was leaving to spend his final days with his daughter and I also, was and still am questioning myself. Who am I? And yes... "my value."

This spoke to me. Maybe it will to you, also. Remember... You guys are special and important to me. ~ Kevin

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

One day a teacher asked her students to list the names of the other students in the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a space between each name.

Then she told them to think of the nicest thing they could say about each of their classmates and write it down.

It took the remainder of the class period to finish their assignment, and as the students left the room, each one handed in the papers.

That Saturday, the teacher wrote down the name of each student on a separate sheet of paper, and listed what everyone else had said about that individual..

On Monday she gave each student his or her list. Before long, the entire class was smiling. 'Really?' she heard whispered. 'I never knew that I meant anything to anyone!' and, 'I didn't know others liked me so much,' were most of the comments.

No one ever mentioned those papers in class again. She never knew if they discussed them after class or with their parents, but it didn't matter. The exercise had accomplished its purpose. The students were happy with themselves and one another. That group of students moved on.

Several years later, one of the students was killed in
Iraq and his teacher attended the funeral of that special student. She had never seen a serviceman in a military coffin before. He looked so handsome, so mature.

The church was packed with his friends. One by one those who loved him took a last walk by the coffin. The teacher was the last one to bless the coffin.

As she stood there, one of the soldiers who acted as pallbearer came up to her. 'Were you Mark's math teacher?' he asked. She nodded: 'yes.' Then he said: 'Mark talked about you a lot.'

After the funeral, most of Mark's former classmates went together to a luncheon. Mark's mother and father were there, obviously waiting to speak with his teacher.

'We want to show you something,' his father said, taking a wallet out of his pocket 'They found this on Mark when he was killed. We thought you might recognize it.'

Opening the billfold, he carefully removed two worn pieces of notebook paper that had obviously been taped, folded and refolded many times. The teacher knew without looking that the papers were the ones on which she had listed all the good things each of Mark's classmates had said about him.

'Thank you so much for doing that,' Mark's mother said. 'As you can see, Mark treasured it.'

All of Mark's former classmates started to gather around. Charlie smiled rather sheepishly and said, 'I still have my list. It's in the top drawer of my desk at home.'

Chuck's wife said, 'Chuck asked me to put his in our wedding album.'

'I have mine too,' Marilyn said. 'It's in my diary'

Then Vicki, another classmate, reached into her pocketbook, took out her wallet and showed her worn and frazzled list to the group. 'I carry this with me at all times,' Vicki said and without batting an eyelash, she continued: 'I think we all saved our lists'

That's when the teacher finally sat down and cried. She cried for Mark and for all his friends who would never see him again.

The density of people in society is so thick that we forget that life will end one day. And we don't know when that one day will be.

So please, tell the people you love and care for, that they are special and important. Tell them, before it is too late..

If you're 'too busy' to take those few minutes right now to forward this message on, would this be the VERY first time you didn't do that little thing that would make a difference in your relationships?

Remember, you reap what you sow. What you put into the lives of others comes back into your own.

May Your Day Be Blessed As Special As You Are.

GBE 80 - Music That Defines You

When I was young, music defined me, but now that I'm older my mood defines my music. Most of you who know me, know I love music and how much it means to me. It is my saving grace at times; it has been there for me when there has been no one to turn to.

My taste in music covers all genres across the spectrum. That means I like rock, hard rock, classic rock, metal, alternative metal (there is a difference. ex: Body Count), pop, blues, jazz, big band, country, etc, etc. Even rap. What mood I am in dictates what music I want to listen to. Lately, it has been KNAC. Go ahead and try it.

You might like it. ;p

Back when I was growing up in O-town, Florida, radio was, for the most part, AM. The "music business" did not see the need to slice and dice the tuneage like they do now. Today, a station will play ONLY Top 40, or R&B (oops, it is called Urban now), or pop, or classic rock. Gone are the days of the playlists that WLOF, aka Channel 95, had.

I miss it, that variety, which is why I'm so glad to have my ipod. Forty-five gigs of music that I have gotten over the years. All kinds, set to shuffle. Now all I need to do is convert the music off my collection of 100+ vinyl records (LP's, EP's, & 45's). So many songs on B-sides are going to disappear. I know they are. I know I can convert them, I just have to get a USB turntable and find the time.

I used to remember going to the local record stores in the seventies and picking these up at the counter. I found some online that go back to 1957. It is how I was introduced to different styles. Just look at the range of genres played. Oh, memories.

A question: Do you think you'd find a commercial radio station today that would play side-by-side Led Zeppelin, the Archies and BJ Thomas?

I can't picture it.

FYI: I am working on some erotic fiction. Can you believe that? Me? LOL.

I was going to try and incorporate it into this blog, but
I'm still working on it. Putting on finishing touches.

And I had already thought of this story from my youth.

My first awarding of "E" Awards.

Photobucket

Last month I was given an "E Award" by James Bond. I had to ask Katy (Just Kate) what the standard practice was, and she said it was to pass the E on to 10 people. The following are deserving winners in my book. They are all people I look for when I grab a few minutes to read my blog subscriptions. I wish I could give a shout out to more. But here, in no particular order:

♥ twinks...wondering ♥ ~ Mish (Michele) writes great blogs about art, as well as other subjects. Two thumbs up!

CHiCKEE ~ Chris started writing just a little bit before me. I have watched her grow as a writer. You will like her.

Just Kate ~ What can I say about Katy? Who doesn't already know her? She pushed me *gently* to write. She is thought provoking. She is a beautiful soul.

BellaDonna ~ The professor who has also given me ideas on how to grow as a writer. Totally blows the old saying of "Those who can - do, and those who can't - teach" out of the water. ***BOOM!!***

deidre ~ Deidre... just read her blogs. A sweetie.

Teri ♥ Michelle ~ tc, as I call her, is funny and you will love her blogs.

Redwine12Roses ~ If you are in the mood for some dark poetry or tasteful erotica, you need go no further than Rose.

Heres a Gem Bec...... ahem... Rebecca is funny and down to earth. Join her on her adventure.

Famous Enuff ~ I always find an interesting take on things when I read Susan's blog. Hopefully you will also.

TAINA ~ The sun and smile of the blogoshere. Worth the time to read. (((HUGS))) And yes.... I'm breaking the rules...

niKi Rok$ (aka roKit QuEen) ~ Always a fun and enjoyable read as you follow Deb's story, told by her with honesty.

Đanny is HeℓℓBoy ~ Come read Danny for a humorous, and slightly twisted take on life.

Not Going Away

I don't know why I like this song so... maybe because the lyrics say what & how I feel so closely I could have written it.

And if you haven't gathered yet...

"Hey, I am NOT going away!!!"

"Not Going Away"

Don't tell me I'm wrong
Don't tell me that you knew all along
I won't roll over dead
Only I know what goes on in my head

I've got nothing to hide
I'm not guilty inside
I won't give up
After all I'm still crazy

I'm not going away, I'm not going
Try so hard to break me but all your diamonds turn to sand
I'm not going away, I'm not going
Say goodbye forever, I'll wait for you in no man's land

Get out of my way
There's nothing you can do to change what I say
I won't ever let go
I got the answer but you'll never know

I got my eyes open wide
Ain't gonna slip up or slide
Can't take me down
After all I'm still crazy

I'm not going away, I'm not going
Try so hard to break me but all your diamonds turn to sand
I'm not going away, I'm not going
Say goodbye forever, I'll wait for you in no man's land

[SOLO]

I'm not going away
I'm not going away
I'm not going away
I'm not going away
I'm not going away
I'm not going away
I'm not going away
I'm not going away

I'm not going away, I'm not going
Try so hard to break me but all your diamonds turn to sand
I'm not going away, I'm not going
Say goodbye forever, I'll wait for you in no man's land
I'm not going away
I'm not going away
I'm not going away, I'm not going
Say goodbye forever, I'll wait for you in no man's land

Time

Time

It is an enemy to me. There is never enough, especially on here. For all of you who keep up with your blogs and blog subscriptions, as well as comments, I don't know how you do it. With my job, I'm only on for like an hour or two each night. Only on Fridays and Saturdays am I able to concentrate fully on them. I was thinking of this as I drove to work this morning and this song played.

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day

You fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way

Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town

Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain

You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you

No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but its sinking

And racing around to come up behind you again

The sun is the same in the relative way, but you're older

Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the english way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought Id something more to say

Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired

Its good to warm my bones beside the fire

Far away across the field

The tolling of the iron bell

Calls the faithful to their knees

To hear the softly spoken magic spells.

The Colors of Childhood

Katy posted a tag blog that she saw from Marian called The Colors of Childhood and I was one of the people she tagged You can find Marian's blog here: Click, Clack and Katy's here: Click, Clock

Blue: The color of the ocean water when I'd go to the beach. Either the Atlantic or the Gulf. I loved the beach then and still love it to this day.

Green: The color of those oak leaves I got to see clearly again as I was walking out of the eye doctor's when I got my glasses. An awesome feeling.

Gray:
The color of the sky as an afternoon thunderstorm was approaching. An everyday occurrence in Florida, accompanied with lots of lightning.

Brown:
The color of my leisure suit. Hey, I was a child of the seventies, are you really surprised?

Yellow: The color of the sun in the sky: either at the beach or at those secret places where my friends and I played. In Florida, the sun is everywhere.

Black:
The color of one of my favorite albums. "Back in Black" (I consider my teens still my childhood. I was still growing to become the man I am.)

Red:
The color of my bike. The first one without training wheels. Man, did I skin my knees and elbows, but I was determined to ride "like the big boys."

Orange: The color of those "things" hanging on so many of the trees down here. They tasted so good, and we didn't need to go to a grocery to get them. :D

Something to make you smile

A guy walks into the local welfare office, marches straight up to the counter and says:
"Hi... Ya know, I just HATE drawing welfare.. I'd really rather have a job."

The social worker behind the counter says:
"Your timing is excellent!
We just got a job opening from a very wealthy old man who wants a chauffeur and bodyguard for his beautiful nymphomaniac daughter.
You'll have to drive around in his Mercedes, but he'll supply all of your clothes.
Because of the long hours, meals will be provided.
You'll be expected to escort her on her overseas holiday trips.
You will have to satisfy her sexual urges.
You'll be provided a two-bedroom apartment above the garage.
The starting salary is $200,000 a year."

The guy, wide-eyed, says: "You're Bull-shittin' me!"

The Social Worker says: "Yeah, well... You started it!"

GBE 77- Why Am I Here?

Why am I here? Hmmm??? What a loaded question. At the age of 47, I still don't really know.

Awww, what the heck. Let's just listen to some music and let it make us smile.

On my ipod...

This morning, driving to work, I heard this on my ipod. Don't we all, at one time or another, feel this way? We all need someone to talk to.

Either way, whether you agree or not, it is a good song and video. I just wanted to share.

Am I sensing a theme here?

I love THIS Metallic, back when they were selling out stadiums mostly by word of mouth because radio airplay was hard for them to get.

Just 4 talented guys and their instruments.

In my opinion, they are so over produced today, it has caused them to lose that "edge" their music once had.
Allow me to provide a little background to the song and then, give it a listen... watch the video (excellent quality vid I might add). Even if metal is not your thing, come on, branch out, because... Let's all say it together....

MUSIC IS MUSIC.
*** My favorite line from this song ***

"Emptiness is filling me"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Fade to Black" is a song by thrash metal band Metallica from their second album, Ride the Lightning (1984). It was the first musical ballad released by the band, and is considered to be the precursor to "One" and "The Day That Never Comes" due to strong similarity in sound, structure, and subject matter. It was ranked as having the 24th best guitar solo ever by Guitar World magazine readers. It is one of Metallica's most famous songs. Since its release, "Fade to Black" has been a fixture in Metallica's live performances. It was also the last song that Metallica performed live with former bassist Jason Newsted. Jason's last gig was at the VH1 Music Awards on November 30, 2000. It was one of Newsted's favorite Metallica songs, and was said to be of great sentimental value to him, although it had been written before he had joined the band. Jason Newsted's previous band, Flotsam And Jetsam, performed a song called "Fade To Black" on their 1986 album Doomsday For The Deceiver before Jason left to join Metallica, although it bears no resemblance to the Metallica version.[1]

Hurt - Johnny Cash's cover

I came across this just now. Listen to and watch the video. It is Johnny Cash's cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt", written by frontman Trent Reznor. It brought tears to my eyes, so be forewarned. Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" was released on his 2002 album, American IV: The Man Comes Around. Rick Rubin, producer of Cash's American series and a friend of Reznor, suggested the song to Cash. The line "crown of shit" was changed to "crown of thorns", not only removing profanity from the lyrics, but also more directly referencing Christ. The cover was released on a single with the B-side "Personal Jesus", a cover of the Depeche Mode single.

Reznor said that when Rubin first asked if Cash could cover his song, he was "flattered" but worried that "the idea sounded a bit gimmicky." He became a fan of Cash's version, however, once he saw the music video.

"I pop the video in, and wow… Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps… Wow. I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn't mine anymore… It really made me think about how powerful music is as a medium and art form. I wrote some words and music in my bedroom as a way of staying sane, about a bleak and desperate place I was in, totally isolated and alone. [Somehow] that winds up reinterpreted by a music legend from a radically different era/genre and still retains sincerity and meaning — different, but every bit as pure."[1]

GBE 76 - Illusion

This week in the GBE, the subject is Illusions. I know, I'm probably taking the easy way here, but I hope you enjoy the songs I pulled together about illusion.

Do you know any songs about illusion? Feel free to post them in your comments. I want to hear you guys. Doesn't matter what genre, because with me, MUSIC IS MUSIC. Plain and simple.

The Grand Illusion - Styx

Life Of Illusion - Joe Walsh

Sometimes I can't help the feeling that I'm
Living a life of illusion
And oh, why can't we let it be
And see through the hole in this wall of confusion
I just can't help the feeling I'm
Living a life of illusion

Pow! Right between the eyes
Oh, how nature loves her little surprises
Wow! It all seems so logical now
It's just one of her better disguises
And it comes with no warning
Nature loves her little surprises
Continual crisis

Hey, don't you know it's a waste of your day
Caught up in endless solutions
That have no meaning, just another hunch
Based upon jumping conclusions
Caught up in endless solutions
Backed up against a wall of confusion
Living a life of illusion

Illusion - Benny Benassi

Chorus:

I wanna be your illusion, be your illusion
To make you happy tonight,
Enjoy this trip with me

I wanna be your emotion, be your emotion
Why don't you turn off the light,
Imagine how we could be leavin

(Beats)

Sometimes I won-der why we have no limits
Everything we do is timed, just find out who we are
we wont stop playing, the special game of love
and when we get together the time is running
I'll be your dream that you'll remember over and over
If only you tried me, If only you touched me

Chorus:

I wanna be your illusion, be your illusion
To make you happy tonight,
Enjoy this trip with me

I wanna be your emotion, be your emotion
Why don't you turn off the light,
Imagine how we could be leavin

I wanna be your illusion, be your illusion
To make you happy tonight,
Enjoy this trip with me

I wanna be your emotion, be your emotion
Why don't you turn off the light,
Imagine how we could be leavin

Black illusion-Ozzy Osbourne

You load the dice and paint the smile upon your face

With fingers crossed you switch the perfume with the mace

What kind of dreams do you enjoy inside your bed?

Ill face the lies that take the evil from your head

Black illusion is all I ever see

Black illusion, Ill bring you misery

Oh yeah

Yeah

You always seem to know the answer to it all

You seem to cheat the truth and never take the fall

Your life is hollow and you simplify the rules

The time will come when you will join the other fools

Black illusion is all I ever see

Black illusion, Ill bring you misery

Oh yeah

Yeah

I load the dice and fake a smile upon my face

With fingers crossed I switch the perfume with the mace

What kind of dreams do I enjoy inside my bed

Youll face the lies that shake the evil from my head

Black illusion is all I ever see

Black illusion, Ill bring you misery

Oh yeah

Yeah

Yeah

Women Drivers... Okay, not all, but this is funny as f**k!

The Rain Song written by Robert Plant

This is the springtime of my loving-

the second season I am to know

You are the sunlight in my growing-

so little warmth I've felt before.

It isn't hard to feel me glowing-

I watched the fire that grew so low.

It is the summer of my smiles-

flee from me Keepers of the Gloom.

Speak to me only with your eyes

it is to you I give this tune.

Ain't so hard to recognize-

These things are clear to all from

time to time. Ooooh...

Talk Talk-

I've felt the coldness of my winter

I never thought it would ever go

I cursed the gloom that set upon us...

But I know that I love you so

but I know that I love you so.

These are the seasons of emotion

And like the winds they rise and fall

This is the wonder of devotion-

I see the torch we all must hold.

This is the mystery of the quotient-

Upon us all a little rain

must fall, Just a little rain?

ooooh, yeah yeah yeah

HOW TO KNOW WHEN SHE'S PISSED! - GBE - 75

I received this in an email. It shows the "something went wrong" side of love and romance. Or the "husband f'd up" side. Hopefully, it will make you smile. I will answer the GBE question at the end, so scroll down.

So, the choice, between love or romance. Call me selfish, but I want both; I want it all. I never have had both at the same time, so darn it... As was once asked:

This is my submission to the GBE. This week's topic is "LOVE OR ROMANCE?"

The GBE, or Group Blogging Experience is great fun. Each week (usually on Tuesday) we are given a general topic by our fearless leader Alicia and we have until that Saturday to blog about it. Say whatever you want. Silly, serious, true, fiction, debate.... whatever. It's up to you.

If your interested just go to Alicia's Blog and and check it out. If you want to participate comment her blog saying "I'm in", that's it. No big sign up or anything. You blog and she'll link to your blog and everyone else's on Saturday.

Make sure you're not private, although it's not a necessity. It just makes it easier for everyone to read your submission.
